History

ISAAC Instruments inc. is a privately owned company founded in 1993 by two engineers, Jacques De Larochellière and David Brillon.The company was first named ISAAC Motorsports enr. Its administrators opted for a name change in January 1999 to better reflect the products' versatility. In 1998, ISAAC widened its horizons by developing a system designed to assess the performance of electric vehicles. Since its inception, ISAAC Instruments has been at the forefront of vehicle instrumentation. ISAAC Instruments Inc. is currently active in two main fields : Vehicle Testing and Fleet Management.

Jacques De Larochellière, P.Eng., graduated from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering (Robotics) in 1992. He acted as Physics technology professor before specializing in the certification of aircraft modifications, which implies flight tests and instrumentation. The first version of the ISAAC product was derived from his undergraduate project ; the idea came during his first season as a racecar driver in 1990, where we was awarded the Motorsports Rookie of the Year and Most-Promising-Newcomer titles.

David Brillon, P.Eng., M.Sc.A., graduated from UQTR in Electrical Engineering with a master's degree in Industrial Electronics . He was a researcher for the Hydro-Québec’s Industrial Chair on Effective Electrothermal Processes at UQTR. David oversees the research and development activities of the company.

ISAAC Instruments' systems are plug-and-play and offer integrated accelerometers. These sensors are tightly linked to Sir Isaac Newton’s famous equation, F = m * a. The company chose to pay tribute to this great scientist by using his first name.
